shocking things: 1. I'm writing a blog omg (@xoxosyd) granted, I kinda have to for my class, but still whoa am I a trendy mormon girl yet? 2. I'm sitting in a hotel in FRICKEN PARIS while I write this..like whaaaat? 3. Beyoncé finally dropped a new album!??!! s/out to tidal's 1 month free trial for hookin it up. Currently jammin' to FREEDOM and i would highly suggest that y'all enlighten yourselves and listen to it if you havent already. ok yeah thats about all the shocking things my jet lagged body can handle without a nap so let's move on.
For anyone who's ever been on a trans-atlantic flight... I finally feel your pain. Not gonna lie, I was pretty terrified about flying out on my own and doing this study abroad because I had never been out of the United States before and the longest flight I have taken by myself was SFO to SLC lol. but I will tell you this: I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THE COURAGE TO STEP FOOT ON THAT PLANE. Pro-tip: if they say "quel boisson voulez-vous" (what would you like to drink) don't say "l'eau" (water) bc the flight attendant will try to hand you a bottle of Merlot. Anyyywayyys It hasn't even been 48 hours yet and I've already met amazing people and seen gorgeous sights. To anyone who is hesitant or afraid of stepping outside their comfort zone, JUST DO IT. you won't regret it. I promise. Ok. Cliché pep talk over. Now for the fun stuff.
After face timing my parents (the real MVPs for staying up all night until I got to the hotel) and a refreshing 4 hour nap our group headed to a Pizza Flora for dinner. 10/10 would recommend. After dinner we headed out to the Eiffel Tower (La Tour Eiffel for you frenchies)! Omg! It was already dark out so the Eiffel Tower was all lit up and I guess we had just barely missed the twinkling lights and didn't even know it lol #americanprobs speaking of, the greatest compliment we received all night was when someone asked us what part of England we were from. #yay.
After looking at the Eiffel Tower and walking around we stopped at La Mur de la Paix and L'école militaire and then we just wandered around and can I just say that Paris is fricken gorgeous, which I'm sure you already knew but I just thought I'd remind you.
This morning we had breakfast at the hotel and that is where the saddest thing that has happened to me yet occurred. They had this cool machine where you make your own hard-boiled eggs so I set an egg in and set my timer for 9 minutes. I patiently waited and when it came time I walked over to pick up my egg. And it was gone. But fear not there were kiwis and applesauce and croissants so breakfast was still bomb. Not that you care about breakfast lol sucks for you that you just wasted your time reading a paragraph about it.
After breakfast we headed to the institute for church and hollah at your girl for understanding sunday school in french #yayme great practice for the 18 months I'll be spending going to church in french. After church we changed at the hotel and then went to the BYU Apartment for lunch. Yum. Although the food made me sleepy and I had to pinch myself to stay awake during the meeting that followed. After stopping at L'étoile we headed home! hence the fact that I'm sitting in a comfy bed about to pass out and take a much needed nap woot woot! Then in like an hour we're gonna head out and get some dinner and do some adventuring. Stay tuned. If you want. Congrats if you made it all the way to the end. And now, enjoy some pics. Or dont enjoy them. But I guess either way you'll be looking at them.
